Paperwork

A necessary evil, I would say.

I am a real good homemaker, but even so I love everything related to my home, I have my frenemy activities.

One that in the last two years is killing me is Paperwork!!! Put away the bills, organize that payments are been completed, payoff calculating, controlling the overspending, controlling and accomplishing savings, mountain of junk mail, remembering passwords to check my statements, and YeS!!! Even so we have everything in automated systems, we have to still check; a good surprise last year is that I overpaid my car and I had an extra saving in the bank. But in reality I should have know when my last payment went through.

I got so fed up with paperwork a couple years ago that I took a break, I passed it all to my husband to-dos. After twenty three years doing it, I needed a break. So this is what happened.

Yeph the dots are there for a reason. He really didn’t even open most of them. I was boiling with… But did not touch them, I was having my sabatic time and I had plans to not worry about it.

Of course I was making sure that we had things paid. But then little by little I learn to not see the pile of letters, and I will just stack them on his side. Several times I will say ok. Open this ten, my husband is amazing but was not cut for paperwork, on the other hand I was always a mathematical person.

Things are back to me again, and it seems that not doing something for chunk of time has put me out of shape and the paperwork is killing me, it should not kill me, I even stop doing receipts at home! So it should be easier, anyways it seems sometimes like way to much.

I am going down to basics, meaning, to my roots. I am thinking of just a reminder to do my daily check into mail and balancing check account, which means asking hubby for his spending, and write down in the big book. Even if hubb don’t do it, make him sit next to me and get me coffee.

Bottom line, at the end I will always be making sure that we are ok. My hubby works his butt off every day, dislikes paperwork and I do work a lot too, but I do like organization, so it will forever fall on my lap.

Lol

Can someone tell the banks, grocery stores, car dealers, etc to stop sending junk mail!!! It plays in my mind to see a big pile to go through, when at the end, is only 1 or two real mail.

Done with my rant about paperwork.

What do others do to keep up with paperwork, I wonder if someone will have a great idea out there that will work with our home. So far I keep the last 6months of every statement, 5 years of taxes, receipts of expensive shopping for 1 year or less if the warranty is less, I keep a reminder to call xfinity, whom every year I have to call so that they don’t charge us more and more, I do not keep bank statements, avoid the checkbook but bringing it back.

Seriously if you read this and you have a great system at home, give it a share!! And comment, maybe I can implement something good and new to our system here. Also I keep everything in folders right in the kitchen to not forget!!! Which even there still happens. Thanks goodness for automatic payments.
