Well, I am almost a year into my soda boycott!
Have I succeeded in not drinking soda 100%, well the answer to that comes in two parts! I believe YES, I have! because after almost a year I don’t feel that soda pop can control my decision to drink it or not anymore. Saying NO to soda comes easy now.
Now if 100% means absolutely 0 sodas then, well I will let you judge the circumstances. Considered that I started saying NO to soda pop on January 1st of 2021
The first soda of this year happened on October 24th. But I feel that the circumstances were super important, my hubby, my son, my son’s girlfriend, and I visited Texas to go to the Formula 1 racing track; on our last day after walking for more than I was ready for, and taking the full blast of heat that Texas weather gives, I was dying. I have finally found a great spot where to lay down, my son and his girlfriend were walking around the track and I have finally stopped my husband for a little rest on a hill and watched the race. But of course, he is a pill! and wanted to keep moving, so off he goes, a bit after he calls me and tells me he has found a great place to rest with a nice shadow under the bleachers and to go meet him. So… of I go, I climb over and under the bleachers, I go. After a few minutes, my husband lay down, and I went from seating on the bars to laying as well. Not even 2 minutes have past and I feel the biting of ants on my ankles!!! I look down and my shoes which were blue in color are now black! BLACK! they were covered in ants! I was laying on an ant-hill!
We left the area so quick! a bit later my boy comes over and he offers soda instead of water, I was so thirsty and in pain that I took it off his hands and drank it off, practically all at once!
The second and third came a bit closer, on an overnight at work before Christmas Eve, to stay awake overnight, and the other one on Christmas Eve Dinner with our classic cider drink.
I have also had 2 lemonade drinks on movie nights, but approximately 10 just water drinks at the movies.
So, overall, I am giving myself a 100% and there will only be one bubbly drink for me on New Year Eve! A nice champagne to raise my cup up for Welcoming the new year, not with fewer pounds, but with a much smarter ME. This year has come full of good, bad, sad, and happy surprises. I think most of our world feels that way, but as I cannot say what happened to each of the persons in the world and I can just attest for mine, I can say that our journey along the way teaches us many things, treasure all of them, learn from each of them, take precautions, be smart and anticipate, speak up! scream! cry! Laugh! call on for help if you must! but please always get up, do not let a thorn pierce your body and soul forever, but pull it out and look at it! is small, insignificant, presumptuous, ugly, and usually, their only function is to pierce but not to flourish; and you are so big compared to it. Clean up and keep going because you will always raise above the difficulties, clip the thorns that you find along the way, and put them where they belong.
Here, here, to another year without sodas, and let’s add to that the lemonades or any drink with added sugars. Let’s also add to my goals the water bottle, let’s try and drink at least 8-cups of water.
As always! thanks for reading my rumbling! and if you relate to any of this! comment and let me know I am not alone!.
